Happy Mother's Day

I didn't have time to write this post yesterday, so today I would like to say Happy Mother's Day to all of the wonderful Mommies out there. My wonderful mom was out of state on vacation with her mom and sister, so we didn't get to spend the day together. But I did go over to my sister's house, and we all went swimming. This was Avery first real time in a swimming pool and she loved it! I also got to try out my new video camera that Tim bought me for Mother's Day. So overall it was a great first Mother's Day!

On Sunday, Avery and I were hanging out in the front yard and she took off and started crawling down the driveway. She stopped right in the middle, threw her hands up and started squealing at her shadow. She kept leaning forward like she was trying to catch it. Wish I had gotten it on video.

Last night we went to Gruene Hall to watch Drew. Avery clapped after every song and even got "star struck" when Drew came over on his break, even though she's hung out with him many times. I think she has her first crush! (Sorry Holly)

Our Saturday

This Saturday, Avery and I had a nice day hanging out at the house. Avery did a little reading, and took some time to crawl through her caterpillar tunnel.

Two Pacifiers

For some reason lately, Avery has really been liking her pacifier. If she sees it laying around she will go crawling as fast as she can to get to it and shove it in her mouth. Then she usually starts laughing so hard that it falls back out of her mouth only to be quickly picked up and shoved back in! Luckily for us though, she doesn't fuss when take it out of her mouth and tell her she doesn't need it. Today, two of her pacifiers were laying on the coffee table, so off she took across the living room and grabbed one in each hand. Without even pausing she shoved one in her mouth and then tried to do the same with the other. After a brief moment of confusion about why they both wouldn't fit in her mouth, she eventually let one fall to the floor.

After I saw how much Avery loved to wave things around and throw things in the air, I sewed these squares of material for her. We keep them in this felt box and she loves to pull them out and wave them all over the place. She also laughs hysterically when I put them on her head and play peek-a-boo.

Avery had an awesome first Easter! We had my whole family at our house, and enjoyed a nice day together.

I think the look on Avery's face says it all! (She's thinking, "Yep, these are my parents and this is what I have to put up with everyday.")

Spring Break Continued

Avery and I have been having so much fun this spring break! And I've been trying to capture all of it in pictures and video. I've decided that I need to always keep my camera tied around my neck because by the time I get back from grabbing my camera, Avery is ready to move on to something else! But anyways, here are a bunch of videos that I took this week and a few pictures too.

Tim had the day off yesterday, so we took Avery to park to ride the train.

I had a whole lot of plastic Easter eggs up at school, and I knew Avery was just dying to take more pictures so who am I to deny her! We threw up the sheet and threw down some eggs. Thankfully, Tim was there to help me keep Avery on the sheet. She really wanted to push all the eggs around and chase after them!

Spring Break

I can't even explain how excited I am about Spring Break! A whole week to visit my family and just hang out with Avery! This past weekend we went to Victoria to visit my family and my aunt took Easter pictures of Avery, Connor, and Kensie. They turned out so cute!

First Major Accident

Yesterday during work I got the worst phone call ever. Avery's babysitter called the school and they transferred the call to my room. I could barely make out what she was saying because she was crying so much and Avery was screaming. But at least I knew Avery was still alive since I could hear her. Avery had fallen off of the bed and hit her head on the floor. I ran out of school without even telling my kids I was leaving and took Avery to the Texas Med Clinic. They said I should go to the ER in case they needed to do a CAT scan. So Tim rode with us to the hospital and we ended up waiting in the ER for a couple of hours with some "interesting" people. Natalie, our babysitter, came and waited with us also. Avery was talking and laughing the whole time so we figured everything was fine, but wanted to hear it from a doctor. When the doctor finally saw her, he just stared at her for the longest time and then started talking really slow like he was trying to break the bad news to us and telling us how she could have fractured her skull and their could be internal bleeding and they could do a CAT scan to find out for sure. Then he finally said that he didn't think that was the case with Avery since she was so alert and never lost consciousness. (BIG sigh of relief here!) Now we are back home and Avery is doing great.

Crawling & Connor's Birthday

Avery got her first guitar lesson this weekend while hanging out with the Kennedy's.

Avery started crawling this past week. I guess she took so long because she wanted to make sure she got it perfect. She's gotten pretty fast and is unstoppable.


Avery loves her bath time. One of her favorite parts is watching the water flow into the tub.

Avery had her first taste of lime this weekend. We thought she would make a really funny face, but she actually really liked it!

On Friday the UPS man rang the doorbell and left a big box by the front door. I couldn't think what it could possibly be coming from Chicago, but once I opened it, I remembered that Tim had called about a care package that The University of Chicago's Celiac Disease Center sends out to people who have been newly diagnosed with celiac disease. When Morgan first told me about it, I figured it would be just a couple of samples, with some pamplets and maybe a few coupons. But most of the food items are full sized and they look pretty good. I can't wait to taste it all. Hopefully it will be better than some of the other gluten free items I've purchased.

Valentine Craft

It always seems like I get an idea to make somehting creafty for a holiday either on the holiday itself, the day before. In this case, I thought I would make Avery an "I Love You" banner for Valentine's Day, but I didn't think of it until Valentine's morning. So needless to say, it didn't get finshed for this year, but it is all ready to go for next Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day

Avery celebrated her first Valentine's Day this past weekend and decided she didn't want to just lay around anymore, but would like to try to crawl! Right now though, her "crawl" is more of an army crawl where she is basically dragging herself across the floor. She doesn't yet understand how to get her legs to work. But she sure is funny to watch!

Avery has learned how to give high fives! She thinks it is hilarious, but tonight she was more interested in the camera.
